If I didn't have so many reservations about Max Payne I would likely be geeked about the upcoming adaptation. Here are a few things that trouble me:
1. The game froze up on me so bad that I was never able to finish it. What if the film freezes up? Okay, so this one doesn't apply; but I still loath that day.
2. The game's idea of bullet-time was somewhat (the loosest term) borrowed from The Matrix. If the technology were to appear in the film, many out there are likely to make the connection and, instead of seeing an original story, will view Max Payne as some sort of knock-off.
3. Video game adaptations have yet to prove themselves.
Besides that, it could still be pretty awesome.
Chris O'Donnell for Max Payne
The Hollywood Insider reports that Chris O'Donnell will join Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in Max Payne, Twentieth Century Fox's live-action adaptation of Rockstar Games' shoot-'em-up game.
John Moore is directing the crime noir drama, which is currently filming in Toronto.
Chris O'Donnell has headlined a feature film since 2000's Vertical Limit. Let me be the first to say, "Welcome Back!"
