Portman's been keeping consistently busy. She was a Boleyn Girl, enjoyed Blueberry Nights, and is now prepping to become romantic fiction icon Catherine Earnshaw.
Natalie Portman for Wuthering Heights
Natalie Portman has been picked up to star in a new silver-screen adaptation of Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights.
Adapted by Olivia Hetreed, Wuthering Heights is one of the classics of English literature, and tells of the intense, elemental and yet ultimately thwarted passion between Earnshaw and Heathcliff. John Maybury will direct.
Though multiple adaptations of the tale already exist, Ecosse Films predicts that Portman can help make the best version yet.
"Natalie is without a doubt one of the most acclaimed actresses of her generation," HanWay's Tim Haslam said. "Combined with visionary director John Maybury, this promises to be a fresh, exciting version of a classic love story."
No start date has been set.
Portman can next be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire in Brothers.
