Bonnie and Clyde
Bonnie and Clyde is officially the oldest movie I've seen on Blu Ray. I always approach pre-1990 movies with some forgiveness because they clearly were not designed for high definition. Still, many of them do a fine job and they really got Bonnie and Clyde right.
Blu-ray: Bonnie and Clyde
Obviously, it's grainy but that's classic. Film in the 1960s was grainy. It actually still is but we like to pretend it's not. The colors are bright, what colors there are. Mainly, the actors' glamorous faces. The old Hollywood makeup holds up under HD scrutiny and preserves their glamour. Faye Dunaway just looks golden. Contrast that with the average looking passers by they encounter on the road.
Most of the scenes are in dirt brown and muted green fields. Cities have a tad more color but this was still the Depression. It's very sunny so everything is brightly lit.
The Blu Ray clearly reproduces the old film. You see the details that are preserved and where there isn't detail, there probably never was. The look is consistent across the whole film.
