Fox Searchlight continues to pick up talent for their upcoming Amelia Earhart biopic creatively titled Amelia. First grabbed were Hilary Swank and Richard Gere, and now the studio has reached out to pick up Virginia Madsen.
Virginia Madsen for Amelia
Directed by Mira Nair off a script by Ron Bass, Amelia chronicles the rocky relationship between the famed aviator (Swank) and publisher-promoter George Putnam (Gere), whom Earhart eventually married.
Madsen will play Dorothy Binney, Putnam's first wife.
Madsen last worked with Fox Searchlight opposite Paul Giamatti in Sideways. Her upcoming projects include Diminished Capacity opposite Matthew Broderick and Lionsgate's supernatural thriller The Haunting in Connecticut.
Filming on Amelia is set to begin this month in Canada and South Africa.
