Charlie Wilson's War
There are only two extra features on the Charlie Wilson's War DVD, but there's only one that matters anyway. A featurette on the real Charlie Wilson takes us beyond the movie. Just a little bit, but the movie only mentioned the ramifications of Wilson's crusade a little bit.
DVD Review: Charlie Wilson's War
First of all, the real Charlie Wilson is much thinner than Tom Hanks. Sorry Tom, I don't know what sort of method preparation you were going for there. Through photos, old footage and new interviews with Wilson, it's easy to see how charismatic he was, in a party environment or a straight political one.
There's a tiny bit of the real Jessica Herring but she just seems like the straight politician. Some of the old videos include rocket demonstrations, so that's pretty awesome.
The other feature is a standard EPK style soundbite piece which is fine to explain the process of getting the film made. Both are under 20 minutes which is the right length to get to the point but not dwell on things indefinitely.
