When Rob Corddry overheard John Cho talking about the social and political undertones of Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo, he couldn't help himself. He did his biggest sarcastic voice and totally made fun of his costar.
Rob Corddry Tries to Prevent Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo
"Oh, this is an important movie about society and politics, racial relations," Corddry mocked. "Come on, Jesus. It's a cartoon."
The actor leapt at the chance to play an evil, bigoted Homeland Security agent for completely apolitical reasons. "I loved it for all those same reasons. It had nothing to do with anything relevant actually."
While some liberals may think Corddry's character represents what's wrong with modern politics, Corddry did not hold any government representatives in mind. "No, have you ever met anybody like that? I guess he really is your dream racist. That racist you've always wanted to meet. But no, I wish. I wish there were someone that bonkers out there."

This agent gets so extreme, he even dives out of a plane to shoot at his targets. "I haven't done wirework like that before. You always think, 'Oh, this is going to be awesome. This is going to be great.' Then when you're up there, you're really wearing a crotch destroying harness. You're about 20 feet above the ground and you've really got to find that sweet spot. You're pivoting. You've got to find your balance and if you move an inch, you flip over and the two stunt guys who hate you prop you up. And you have to shoot into a wind machine. It was very, very hard. Definitely fun. That's like my version of extreme sports I think. It was just lame."
The sequel is directed by the writers of both films. It is their first directing gig but Corddry gave them props. "The small number of movies I've done, I've worked with I think one or two directors that haven't been first time directors. So I was on and off a string of first time directors and these guys, I have been very lucky to work with a lot of really great first time directors but these guys, and maybe it's because they wrote the material, I don't know. They could be completely incompetent with something they didn't write but they really had a confidence that was very comfortable. It always felt like they knew exactly what they were doing and you were in good hands."
Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo opens to theaters April 25th.
