The Tudors The Tudors

It was only a few years ago when the best shows on television came from HBO. Well, for those of you who, like me, complained about crappy cable service and got Showtime for free as a result have discovered a new trend. With shows such as Dexter (I adore this show) and The Tudors, Showtime has proven that they are just as capable as HBO to deliver great programming. Their film selection, however, still blows.

The Tudors Gets a Third Season

Those of us who watched Rome over on HBO are now watching the better-dressed Tudors over at Showtime. Only halfway through its second season, the show has been greenlit to begin filming a third cycle this June in Dublin in order to return next year.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will continue to star as King Henry VIII.

The third season should give us the necessary amount of time to discover that, yes, all of the characters are gay. If you have been watching the show I expect at least a chuckle at this comment...

The Tudors is "now a fixture for us at Showtime, and we're on our way to completing the entire saga of all six wives of Henry VIII," said Showtime entertainment prexy Robert Greenblatt.

Since The Tudors has quickly become one of Showtime's best properties -- and a great source for terrific Halloween costume ideas -- it comes as no surprise that the series got the thumbs up for renewal.
