The American Idol faithful are up in arms – for the third time this season. This time they are perplexed about Paula and her comments from Tuesday night’s show. When our idols were brought on stage to have a quick review of their first of two performances, Paula critiqued both Jason Castro’s first and second performance. Wait – we’ve only each sung one song so far.

It is not a secret to anyone that the judges listen to the dress rehearsal performances. I don’t really think they should, but it is Simon’s contention if they don’t they aren’t able to hear the live performances over the crowd noise. This is a valid point. I assume they take notes, during said dress rehearsal, to use during the show. But there is ‘buzz’ in cyberspace, about the producers feeding Paula comments. I love AI and the concept of giving talented kids, who would otherwise never be seen, a shot at making it in the business. For that reason, I wholeheartedly hope every aspect of AI is on the up and up (vote tabulating included). I am getting a little concerned about Randy summarily saying David Archuleta is ‘da bomb’. Especially in the case of his performance last night – good maybe – ‘da bomb’, I think not.
I think it is time to address what is the most important issue. And that is what to do for Paula. The girl really could use some help. Someone needs to step up and do the right thing by her. Not to worry Nigel, the show would still be a success without her. (I for one volunteer to take her job and would do it for far less money!) Seriously, she needs everyone in her life to help her get it together – whatever it takes. Pulling oneself up from adversity – that is the making of an American Idol.
