American Idol American Idol
The Final 4 – only two weeks to go to the finale – Ryan told us you must vote.

The theme of the show was Rock and Roll. Our idols were to select a song from the list of the 500 most influential rock and roll songs to date, according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We were shown a video clip of ‘The Hall’ in Cleveland.

Each contestant performed two songs tonight. And there was no doubt as to who fell into the #1 and #4 spots. Here we go from the best to the rest.

I admit Idol fans – this was not an easy week to rank, but let’s break it down from the best to the rest.

Season 7 Week 12 Top 4 American Idol Recap

David Archuleta – “Stand by Me” by Ben E. King – clear, nice vocal, best performance since “Imagine” – Randy said trying to win the whole thing, hot man vocals, it was hot – Paula said way beyond your years, delivered on this, seasoned already – Simon said could have whistled and been better than Jason, good choice of song, struggled a little at end, best performance so far - “Love me Tender” by Elvis – beautiful vocal, still squints too much – Randy said another great performance, hot vocals of the night – Paula said one of my favorite performances, felt your heart – Simon said didn’t beat the competition you crushed the competition.

Syesha Mercado – “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner – really good vocal, less imitation of Tina in performance would have been better – Randy said showed up, in the zone, nice going, showing heat late – Paula said look like a star, magnetic voice and presence – Simon said put a slight damper on things, bad shrieky version of Tina Turner – “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke – best she has looked, strong ending – Randy said loved first song this one not as much, didn’t like arrangement, fell flat for me – Paula said how you orchestrated vocals beautiful, utilized everything I hoped, superstar performance, dream come true, you have changed – Simon said I have to be fair, I’m going to agree with Paula (by this time the floodgates had opened and Syesha was full blown crying).

David Cook – “Hungry Like a Wolf” by Duran Duran – song worked, nice performance – Randy said ok choice, solid performance not amazing – Paula said left me with big appetite – Simon said – good, little bit copycat, is it good enough to make it through to next week, yes – “Baba O’Riley” by The Who – wish he’d chosen a more mainstream song, but a good performance – Randy said something different going on with you tonight, that’s the David Cook I’ve grown to love, you were great – Paula said I want more, I am humbled to watch your soul – Simon said welcome back David Cook.

Jason Castro – “I Shot the Sheriff” Bob Marley version – singing like he had nothing to lose, very loose – Randy said really karaoke Bob Marley, nothing special, wasn’t good for me – Paula said never saw you perform this much to the audience, genuine, wasn’t crazy about the song or performance – Simon said stand back, utterly atrocious, arrangement performing and singing as bad as I’ve heard, like a first round audition – “Mr. Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan – forgot an entire line, well almost two, should have been a great song for him, help me please how much longer, if he doesn’t go home tomorrow I don’t know what to say – Randy said how did you think that was?, Jason not in the zone – Paula said it is what it is, didn’t blow us away – Simon said Jason I’d pack your suitcase.

Will we get another Season 7 shocker – will the voting reflect, looks and personality or talent - results Wednesday night on Fox.
