With Mark Wahlberg working on enforcement in Max Payne, brother Donnie figured he'd try playing a DEA agent in TNT's upcoming series Morse Code.
Donnie Wahlberg Ticks Out Morse Code
Donnie Wahlberg and Jon Avnet have teamed with TNT to develop Morse Code, a crime drama about a young war hero-turned-Drug Enforcement Administration officer working in his hometown of Boston. The title role is fitting for Donnie considering that he is a Bostin native.
Walon Green (Law & Order) will write the series with Jon Avnet expected to direct. TNT's top programmer, Michael Wright, compares Morse Code to The Departed, with the commingling of law enforcement and organized crime.
"Our original shows are character-based dramas that speak directly to the audience," Wright said. "The guy at the center of this is a relatable everyman kind of cop -- an honest, authentic character that our audience can connect with on a personal level."
Wahlberg is currently working with Avnet on the upcoming film Righteous Kill. It may sound like a joke, but the actor has reunited with New Kids on the Block to begin a tour starting this Friday.
