The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Crowned Box Office King (This Week)
Disney has found some relief in the international territories, however, as Prince Caspian performed better than Wardrobe by grossing $20.7 million in its opening bow overseas.
Disney now hopes that Narnia's family element will help it to keep ticket sales high in the weeks to come.
Warner Bros. is now hanging its head after watching another family-targeted film, Speed Racer, decline a whopping 59% to earn only $7.6 million in its second frame. The film has only grossed $29.8 million in its first ten days.
Iron Man's strong word of mouth has allowed the film to become the first to cross the $200 million mark in 2008. In its third frame the film decline a miniscule 39% to gross another $31.2 million. Taking the number two spot for the weekend, Marvel's first outing has already earned $222.5 million.
The same goes for the Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher starrer What Happens in Vegas. Enjoying little competition from other romantic comedies, the film declined only 31% in its second from to take the number three spot with $13.8 million. Acting like a kick to Speed Racer's face, the film has earned a total of $40.3 million.
