Columbia Pictures has picked up John Cusack to topline Roland Emmerich's apocalyptic thriller 2012.

2012 begins with a global cataclysm, which brings an end to the world as we know it, and chronicles the heroic struggle of the survivors. The film's title refers to the end days of human civilization as foretold by the ancient Mayan calendar.
What is one to think who watches the DVD in 2013? Hard to say, but at least Back to the Future gave itself a 30-year window; which is far from accurate, mind you.
I digress...
Also looking to co-star is Chiwetel Ejiofor. Emmerich will direct off a script both he and Harald Kloser wrote.
