Let me begin by stating that I am a huge fane of Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest. I have the digital copy on my iPhone and find multiple occasions to watch the episode er, I mean special.
Finding a loophole in this year's Emmys, Fox plans on submitting both Family Guy and Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest for contention.
Blue Harvest at the Emmys
The minds behind Family Guy have figured out a way to get to classify Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest as a special instead of your usual episode.
“It always seemed a little odd that we were up against ‘The Powderpuff Girls,’ ” said “Family Guy” exec producer Chris Sheridan. “Our true creative competition is other half-hour shows, like ‘Two and a Half Men’ and ‘My Name Is Earl.’ We considered in the past switching from the animation category to the regular comedy series category, but we didn’t do it. The only way our animated people could be recognized was to stick with that.”
While it is still unknown on whether the special will be accepted in the comedy bracket, there is hope in this loophole.
“We thought we’d give it a shot,” he said. “We feel the show deserves some recognition. It’s one of the highest-rated half-hour scripted shows. It seems like a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get the recognition they worked so hard for.”
