We knew there was a reason for all the recent casting updates/rumors surrounding the sequel for Transformers. Not only has DreamWorks begun production on the next installment, but they have also given it an extended title.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen
The sequel to Transformers will be titled Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. Since the name reminds me a whole bunch of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, I can only assume DreamWorks has it in mind to make this a middle installment in the Transformers franchise, with the bad guys picking up some ground after losing their mighty leader last time.
It's a guess, I know, but sounds about right.
Production on the film began June 2nd in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
DreamWorks is fast-tracking the film in order to get it in theaters on June 26th, 2009.
