Cowboys & Aliens
Now here is an interesting casting development for the upcoming adaptation of Cowboys & Aliens. While the story sounds damn near impossible to bring to the silverscreen, one heckuva start would be to bring Robert Downey Jr. onboard. At this point in time, it seems damn near impossible to contain his hotness. If anybody can make this film a possibility, it is he.
Robert Downey Jr. Considering Cowboys & Aliens
Robert Downey Jr. is in negotiations to star in DreamWorks/Universal's Cowboys & Aliens, a pulpy mix of the sci-fi and Western genres that the studio(s) hope to have ready as a tentpole for summer 2010.
While I must admit this comes as a surprise, Cowboys & Aliens will be Downey's first deal since launching Iron Man into orbit with over $500 million worldwide. This guy is hot, hot, hot!
The adaptation already has the necessary support from big-name producers such as Steven Spielberg, Alex Kurtzman, Robert Orci, Brian Grazer and, you guessed it, Ron Howard. Now all it needs is some big names to fill the callsheet.
Cowboys & Aliens derives from a graphic novel written by Fred Van Lente and Andrew Foley from an original idea by Rosenberg. The story centers on an Old West battle between the Apache and Western settlers, including a former Union Army gunslinger named Zeke Jackson (Downey), that is interrupted by a spaceship crashing into the prairie near Silver City, Ariz.
