Robotech
Warner Bros. is bringing on the experience when it comes to their adaptation of the anime classic, Robotech. The studio has picked up veteran screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan to do er, what he does best.
Lawrence Kasdan to Pen Robotech
Besides Kasdan, Warner Bros. has also picked up both Akiva Goldsman and CHuck Roven to board the production as producers, joining Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.
A sprawling sci-fi epic, Robotech takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off three successive waves of alien invasions. The first invasion centers on a battle with a race of giant warriors who seek to retrieve their flagship's energy source known as "protoculture," and the planet's hope for survival ends up in the hands of two young pilots.
Crevello and Maguire are credited with brining the project to Warner Bros. last September.
Kasdan has an impressive history of screenplays including Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Chill and The Empire Strikes Back.
