Though Sony Pictures is still without a screenplay for Spider-Man 4, the studio is confident enough to announce that the sequel will arrive to theaters in May 2011.
Spider-Man 4 Coming May 2011
Los Angeles Times caught up with Spider-Man producer Laura Ziskin and has learned that the fourth installment in the Spider-Man franchise has been scheduled for theatrical release sometime in May 2011.
In remarks Thursday to theater owners from California and Nevada, Ziskin said there was no finished screenplay, but that she and Sony Pictures were hopeful “Spider-Man 4” could be ready in three years’ time.
Considering that the first three films have earned a combined total of $2.5 billion worldwide, one can easily understand why Sony is so anxious to get another installment up and running.
Neither star Tobey Maguire nor director Sam Raimi is yet committed to work on the next installment.
