Meet the Spartans
It's so funny to me that I'm marveling at how great such a silly movie looks on Blu Ray. Although, it is a spoof of the ultimate home theater demo, so it's kind of appropriate. I haven't seen 300 on Blu Ray, but I imagine this is how great the original would look too.
On Blu-Ray: Meet the Spartans
Because Blu Ray is so clear, you can kind of tell that Spartans is the soundstage version. On film, the set recreations looked pretty much just like the CGI backgrounds. Here the tactile-ness of it is clear.
The most amazing detail is you can see all the goosebumps on the cold, topless actors in the freezing studio. Could you see goosebumps in 300 or were they all digitally removed?
Perhaps there is less depth of field with the HD cameras, but if you're marveling at goosebumps, or Carmen Electra's firm, bronzed thighs, or the shiny Persian gold, then Blu Ray is pretty awesome.
