While I'd normally hate to get the hype too high for Wanted, an email popped up in my box with the subject line, "100 % Wanted!"

Looked interesting enough, and didn't sound like spam trying to make my babymaker bigger, so I opened it to see what 'Mark P' was talking about. According to the email, Wanted had temporarily enjoyed a 100% termatometer over at RottenTomatoes. The film is down to 93% now, but that shouldn't matter; the critics are going head over heels for this actioner.

Wanted Reviews

Since Wanted seems to be impressing just about everybody, we figured it wouldn't hurt to look at a couple more early reviews for the film. I also love both these sites, so no shame pointing them out...

Wanted's a corporate product, but, thankfully, it's an excellent one -- the two-fisted, double-barreled high-octane guilty pleasure summer action movie you've been waiting for. Wanted is speedy and spiffy and shiny as a bullet, and it's got about as much actual weight when it stops moving.

Wanted's a film made of other films, a perfect piece of product; it's got a big, broad cast to ensure worldwide bankability, and there's less dialogue than there is the universal language of kiss kiss bang bang. In fact, with Jolie's sex appeal only employed in a few scenes (and nicely balanced with beefcake shots of McAvoy's action abs), Wanted mostly bypasses kiss kiss bang bang in favor of bang bang bang bang.

Cinematical
Wanted is The Matrix meets Shoot Em’ Up with the color palate of The Fast and the Furious. It’s a double barreled, balls to the wall, high-octane, completely over the top, ultra-violent, ultra-gory summer action movie that just doesn’t give two flips for slowing down. To call it a crowd pleaser is an understatement, it’s the kind of movie that’s so in your face it elicits an audible reaction from its audience, whether they intended to spend two hours gasping in surprise or not. Russian director Timur Bekmambetov takes an almost perverse delight in slamming his viewers down in their seat, and then refusing to let them up. Rethink that oversized coke.

There is a single negative review for Wanted, but all it does is badmouth what others are getting geeked on. No point discussing the minority, yet. Check out both reviews for Wanted by clicking the bold links above.

Wanted opens to theaters on June 27th.
