Jason Isaacs is Lucius Malfoy
I was watching Harry
Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on HBO the other night and I couldn't help but think, "God d*mn, Jason Isaacs makes one heck of a Lucius Malfoy." The final battle segment that takes place in the Department of Mysteries is one of the most memorable sequences of the franchise. Action, explosions and cool dialogue to boot.
Unfortunately for us, it looks like Isaacs' Lucius Malfoy won't be making an appearance in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. His flowing blonde hair will be missed...
No Isaacs/Lucius
The good people at ComingSoon caught up with Jason Isaacs to discuss his involvement with the Potter franchise and have learned that, though he won't be seen in Half-Blood Prince (sigh), he will be making a grand return for both installments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
CS: What was it like to pick up the final "Harry Potter" book when it came out and not know what was in there, especially for you? Isaacs: I'm not quite strong enough to pick up a book of that weight. I had a couple of people to help me, and a winch. The secret can be out now. Before it came out I wasn't quite sure – there was a point where I wasn't sure I was going to do anymore because there wasn't much for me to do in number five and I wasn't in number six. I met Jo Rowling for the first time at a big awards dinner. I went over and basically fell to my knees and said "Get me out of prison, I beg you." She looked over her shoulder and looked back at me mouthing "You're out. Chapter One." And that was it, that's all I had to know, and I signed up immediately.
Isaacs goes on to discuss working with the Potter cast and his role in the upcoming season of HBO's Entourage. Happy to have him. Check out the entire interview here.
