In producing her husband Zack's directorial efforts, producer Deborah Snyder has had to mount some ambitious projects. 300 proved successful, but the long-attempted Watchmen remains a fight.

"Listen, I think with the success of 300, in some ways it made it easier to embrace an R rated film," said Synder. "But, Watchmen is so complex and it's another thing. It doesn't fit in a box so I think that's always a scary thing. I think when they made 300, that was also scary and they took a chance and it proved them well, so I think it was slightly easier but there's still, every day there's still battles and everything but I mean, they've been very supportive of us."
With Zack assembling a rough cut at three hours, there is some footage that can be shown in teaser trailers. "We've been working on it for so long too that it's nice to finally get to share it because it's been a long, long time. It's really exciting and when you do see something, whenever that will be, I think it's really exciting."

Once it's out, there's no keeping it secret. "It's a given it's going to end up on Youtube so I think we have to prepare for that. It's just I think the nature of the world we're living in right now. I think we're really excited and it's a couple minutes."
Viral marketing could be a major factor in Watchmen's campaign. "I think the advertising campaign that you can go on Youtube and create your own commercials was kind of a start. We're going to see a lot more of those types of things."
Watchmen opens to theaters March 6th, 2009.
