Left 4 Dead
Short of having the I Am Legend video games, Left 4 Dead looks like just the sort of zombie survival game I've been waiting for. Yes, I know Resident Evil exists but I have a hard time staying focused on big story games. I just want to gather supplies and reach objectives.

The supplies in Left 4 Dead may be limited to weapons and health packs, but I can get into the objectives. The potential for maintaining blockades and traversing ruined landscapes seems cool.
The first person shooter style engine runs smooth. It seems easy to just start blasting away at zombies. I like how you have to actually pick up the objects you find. You don't just run over them. That's a nice touch.
I'm not likely to utilize the multi-player mode. Back in high school, it would've been a great escape to link up with my friends to survive the outbreak. That's how we beat Doom II. But these days I'll probably just pop it in for an hour or two and let the computer AI work with me.
