After losing the record of biggest three-day opening to The Dark Knight, Tobey Maguire is hoping to bounce back with Universal's The Crusaders.
Maguire for The Crusaders
Universal Pictures has picked up Tobey Maguire to star in The Crusaders, a drama about the landmark 1954 case Brown v. Board of Education.
Maguire would play Jack Greenberg, who, as an idealistic lawyer fresh out of law school, joined with NAACP Legal Defense Fund head and future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall to win a Supreme Court case that ruled segregation in American schools illegal.
Gary Ross is attached to direct off a script by Danny Strong. Ross and Maguire have worked together previously on Pleasantville and Seabiscuit.
