While the title is pretty dang specific, Pineapple Express did break an opening day record.

With $12.1 million on its opening bow, Pineapple Express now holds claim to the best Wednesday opening ever... for August.
For the first time in its (domestic) run, The Dark Knight took the #3 spot for the day. So who's number two? If you can believe it, enough little girls remembered that Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 also came out mid-week, and were sure to help the film earn an impressive $5.7 million.
So who was the previous record holder for best Wednesday opening in August? The title strangely goes to The Princess Diaries 2. I for one am thankful they lost the title to something involving sticky greens.
