The House Bunny
Watching Anna Faris might be enough for most (men) to go see The House Bunny, but there might be something more here.
Official Reviews: The House Bunny
Some of the first official reviews have surfaced for The House Bunny and, going against the odds, they have some positive remarks to say on the film. No joke - there is even talk of 'good buzz.'
Variety
It's a little stroke of genius: Make a female-empowerment movie and cast it with Playboy Bunnies. Elevated via a strong script by "Legally Blonde" scribes Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz, "The House Bunny" is a blissfully broad comedy that should catapult Anna Faris into a singular kind of stardom -- she's funny, she's sexy, and her movie distinguishes itself grandly from a mostly gore-and-groin-fixated summer comedy season. Titles are sometimes dumped in mid- to late August, but good buzz could help this Fred Wolf-directed laffer break out beyond its young-femme target audience.
Hollywood Reporter
Although moments of inspiration are few and far between, director Fred Wolf (in a vast improvement over his first feature, "Strange Wildnerness"), keeps things bouncing along at an agreeable pace, while allowing Faris plenty of wiggle room.
She's unmistakably the main attraction -- and her hysterical habit of repeating the names of new people she meets in a low growl that summons up "The Exorcist" is destined to become the picture's calling card.
