While you'll never see me hunting down my copy of Chronicles of Riddick on DVD -- I don't even own a copy -- I can openly admit that I enjoyed the film greatly. Sci-fi, hotties, Karl Urban - What's not to like? With Vin Diesel looking like he recently set a New Year's resolution to make an action movie every month, the actor has surfaced claiming that not one but two Riddick sequels are in the works.
Two Riddicks in the Works
Riddick! While talking with MTV, Vin Diesel cautioned fans not to worry about the extended hiatus, as the powers that be are currently at work to ensure that the franchise gets a couple more sequels.
“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”
Riddick
“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”
While I'm game to see what they can come up with for Riddick, Vin Diesel has got to start laying off the action films. He's becoming a cliche of er, himself?
