Never Back Down
Never Back Down is a pretty dynamic Blu Ray, combining gritty scenes and heightened lighting. High school scenes are bright and vibrant, going even further during parties and organized fights. Contrast that with home life where you can see all the grain in darkly lit scenes.
Blu-Ray Review: Never Back Down
During the fights, the ripped bodies and abs shine with all the sweat. The dirty, stinky feet look a bit grosser too. This “Beat Down” edition promises more hits than the theatrical version, but I wouldn’t know where they are. I didn’t memorize the choreography.
For a film that will probably spend the bulk of its life on video, they really made Never Back Down look hot. With artificial enhancement of lighting designs and detail, the world of MMA fighting looks just surreal enough to be a movie, but not so much that it’s unrealistic.
