Tintin
Considering that Herge Studios, who holds the rights to Tintin, should be in the know, one has to wonder who to believe when it comes to which director will helm the first Tintin installment: Steven Spielberg or Peter Jackson. While Herge Studios has announced that Peter Jackson would be sitting in the director's chair for the first film, Jackson and Spielberg's spokesarmy claims that this is not the case.
Spielberg Still on for Tintin
Herge Studios thinks Peter Jackson will direct the first installment of Tintin. Jackson and Spielberg both think that Steven Spielberg is going to direct the first installment. Either or, it's a win-win. Now, if it was Steven Spielberg or, I don't know, Uwe Boll, we would have reason to be concerned here.
Spielberg hopes Tintin will be his next directing gig after killing it at the box office with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Jackson is wrapping up The Lovely Bones and he next plans to be on as producer of Tintin.
The first installment in a planned trilogy, Tintin I will be based on two of the books, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure, written by Tintin creator Herge between 1942 and 1944.
