Poltergeist
While I'm still against the idea of a Poltergeist remake -- why do we need to remake it? -- we might as well make sure that MGM is at least trying to find some respectable talent for the project.
Vadim Perelman Looking to Direct Poltergeist
While nothing has been signed, Vadim Perelman is in talks with MGM to direct Poltergeist. If everything goes to plan, he will be teaming up with scribes Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to take on the 1982 classic.
The original film was directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg. The film's exploration of an ordinary family's reaction to an extraordinarily intense situation likely appealed to Perelman, who delved into similar dynamics in his debut, 2003's House of Sand and Fog, and last year's The Life Before Her Eyes.
So, yes, the director has got some experience, though none of it is actually with the horror genre.
