Tarzan
After announcing that they'd be moving forward with a Tarzan film back near the end of 2006, Warner Bros. has only now begun to make some serious ground on the production.
Sommers to Write and (Possibly) Direct Tarzan
Depending on how negotiations go, Stephen Sommers could wind up in the director's chair for Tarzan. So far the director has committed to co-writing the script with Stuart Beattie. The pair have worked together recently on Paramount's adaptation of G.I. Joe, which Sommers went on to direct.
Jerry Weintraub will produce.
For those of you who remember the initial news around Tarzan, you might recall that it was Guillermo del Toro originally approached to direct. Considering that he has some big tasks ahead including The Hobbit, one can understand why that fell through.
The film will be based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel, Tarzan of the Apes.
