While Steven Spielberg decides on whether or not he'd like to direct The 39 Clues, DreamWorks' isn't stalling on finding the next piece in the puzzle. Reteaming with Spielberg, Jeff Nathanson has been brought on to write the first installment in the franchise.
Jeff Nathanson to Write The 39 Clues
Aimed at kids ages 8-12, The 39 Clues centers around the Cahills -- the most powerful family the world has ever known. The source of its power is a mystery that can only be unraveled by assembling 39 clues hidden around the world throughout history.
There should be a comfort level between Spielberg and Nathanson, considering that the pair have worked together on three of the director's previous films including: The Terminal, Catch Me If You Can and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The first book in the franchise, The Maze of Bones, hits shelves next week. The second book, One False Note, arrives December 2nd. There is expected to be ten books in the series.
