Then She Found Me
Then She Found Me is my first indie movie on Blu Ray. This is the experiment to see how the little shoestring movies will hold up on the primo HD format. It's obviously not like Transformers or Pirates, but it's nice to know they'll make it.
Blu-Ray Review: Then She Found Me
Helen Hunt's directorial debut kind of looks like an upscaled standard DVD. It's obviously more clear and consistent than that, but it's the same sort of respectable duplication with no real standout details.
Part of the difference may simply be the lighting. There was just no light shining on those details to bring them out. You can even tell the difference between indoor and outdoor scenes, where outside at least you have the sun, but inside it looks like indie film lighting.
Also, it's just not a visual movie. It's about people talking through their relationships, so it only has to look presentable. As such a drama, it does seem to relish in actors' real world faces with little makeup, but it's not exaggerated.
Like that upconverting DVD parallel, it shows what's there, not more. More is the real thrill of Blu Ray, but at least we know that our low budget favorites can look passable in the new format.
