Ghostbusters
Hard to say whether this is necessarily a good or bad idea, but Columbia Pictures wants to make one more Ghostbusters installment and, yes, they want the original cast to return. I don't know about the rest, but Harold Ramis has definitely put on some girth.
Bringing Back Ghostbusters
Columbia Pictures has picked up The Office co-exec producers Lee Eisnberg and Gene Stupnitsky to write a script for another Ghostbusters installment. The risk will count on the return of Harold Ramis, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson.
The duo recently worked with Ramis, is it was they who wrote Year One, a comedy Ramis went on to direct. Their close relationship would suggest that Ramis already knows that Murray, Aykroyd and Hudson would return if given the opportunity.
Why another Ghostbusters? Besides some sense of nostalgia, that may eventually have us loathing the film, Columbia Pictures can't ignore the financial possibilities. The original Ghostbusters was Columbia's highest grossing film ever, until it was beaten by Men in Black and then Spider-Man.
The cast won't be officially approached by Columbia Pictures until the script is ready.
