Now here's a nice touch that should give just the right spoof full of sugar to 20th Century Fox's Tooth Fairy. While the production already has a good start in terms of a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson and Ashley Judd, one can't help but acknowledge what a perfect fit Julie Andrews will make.
Julie Andrews Supervises Tooth Fairy
Julie Andrews, Stephen Merchant and pro skateboarder Ryan Sheckler have all been picked up by Fox to join Johnson and Judd in the upcoming family comedy Tooth Fairy.
To be directed by Michael Lembeck, Tooth Fairy centers on Derek Thompson (Johnson), a minor-league hockey player whose nickname is the Tooth Fairy because of his ability to knock out opposing players' teeth. Judd plays his girlfriend.
When he discourages a youngster's hope, Derek is ordered to one week's hard labor as a real tooth fairy, complete with wings, magic wand and frilly tutu. Along the way, he rediscovers his forgotten dreams.
Andrews has been cast to play Lily, a high-ranking, acerbic supervisor with the Tooth Fairy Department charged with overseeing Derek's stint as a tooth fairy.
Merchant will play another tooth fairy named Tracy. The character is socially awkward and has yet to earn his wings. He will work close to Derek.
Sheckler
arrives as one of the film's antagonists, a young hockey player named Mick who treats Derek like a has-been.
Filming on Tooth Fairy is set to being this October.
