Johnny Depp and director Gore Verbinski must have hit it off on any one of the three films of Pirates of the Caribbean, as the duo will reteam for the animated film Rango.
Johnny Depp for Rango
Paramount Pictures, who will handle the task of financing and distributing Rango, have picked up Johnny Depp for the animated pic.
Depp will voice the lead character, a household pet that goes on an adventure to discover its true self.
Gore Verbinski will direct off a script by John Logan.
While the project doesn't initially sound that exciting, are curiosity can only peak when we're told that there will be ILM involvement. Why you ask?
Paramount hopes that Rango will be cutting-edge in terms of CG animation.
Verbinski hopes that ILM can help "capture and translate every aspect of Johnny’s performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature."
Production is set to begin January with hopes for a March 2011 release
