A Watchmen Sequel?

While a Watchmen sequel is even less likely than a sequel/prequel for 300, I'm sure there are at least a few execs at Warner Bros. who would love to find a way to exploit the franchise for some extra skrilla. Catching up with actor Patrick Wilson, MTV has learned that at least the contracts are set if a sequel were to ever be made.

A sequel? Really? Well, at least on paper Warner Bros. acknowledges the minute possibility for more.

MTV News recently spoke to actor Patrick Wilson, who plays Nite Owl in the much-anticipated adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ graphic novel, and asked him to weigh in on the film’s sequel potential.

“It’s all been talked about,” laughed Wilson. “Financially, they like to do that. But all of us, [director] Zack [Snyder] included, all go, ‘How on Earth could you do a sequel or prequel?’”

Even 300 had some outs.

“Even the guys from ‘300’ might have had a sequel,” said Wilson. “It’s the most ridiculous option. It’s sort of a financial way to protect the studio, and I would do the same thing.”

Think they could pull off a sequel? Having read the comic, I just can't fathom how anybody could find an angle that wouldn't be embarrassing to the franchise or the studio. But, then again, you never know. Check out the entire report on the Watchmen sequel (possibility) at MTV Splash Page.
