Keira Knightley Likely for The Beautiful and the Damned
Nick Cassavetes has already signed on to direct The Beautiful and the Damned, a period love story about F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Sayre. When it comes to who'll play Zelda, Cassavetes already has it in mind to have Keira Knightley come aboard. The actress is currently in negotiations to star.
The Beautiful and the Damned revolves around Zelda Sayre (Knightley) and F. Scott Fitzgerald, who became Jazz Age icons known for living large, soaring high and crashing hard. Although toasts of town in the 1920s, their courtship and marriage was festooned with jealousy and acrimony. Fitzgerald used their relationship as material for his novels. Sayre did the same.
Nick Cassavetes will direct off a screenplay by Hanna Weg.
The Beautiful and the Damned is hoping for an April start date.
