Didn't see this one coming. While I am never surprised to find Branagh doing Shakespeare adaptations in front of the camera, I didn't know the Brit actor had it in him to direct a big-budget comicbook adaptation.
Kenneth Branagh Wants Thor
Marvel Studios are currently in negotiations with Kenneth Branagh to direct the live-action adaptation of Thor, which the studio hopes to have in theaters by 2010.
Penned by Mark Protosevich, Thor follows disabled medical student Donald Blake, who has an alter ego as the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor.
So what sort of experience does Branagh have? Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige must have been really, really impressed with Branagh's Henry V. I've seen it, and can't really figure how that project would relate to a comicbook adaptation. Maybe if Marvel wants the adaptation extra violent.
That, or Marvel is sticking to their plan of hiring unproven directors for dirt cheap.
