Cult of Cartman
If you’re going to repackage a greatest hits collection, this is certainly the way to do it. South Park has picked 10 Cartman-centric episodes and provided new introductions by Eric Cartman himself. With a box designed like a bible, this “Cult of Cartman” will certainly have its disciples, starved for any new South Park material.
DVD Review: Cult of Cartman
The intros are very short, about 10 seconds each. They’re not so much funny in the jokes that Cartman delivers. Those are fairly basic Cartman hate speech. It’s the gravitas with which he delivers these ridiculous life lessons. I always said I could watch those adorable little construction paper cutouts do anything.
The episodes themselves are a reasonable selection. “Scott Tenorman Must Die” has to be the ultimate Cartman victory. However I would lament the absence of “Casa Bonita,” which is prime Cartman A-holery. Also oddly missing is the Christian Rock episode and “The Passion of the Jew.” Wouldn’t those make sense for a religious Cartman theme?
There are some episodes from recent seasons like “Super Fun Time” and “Le Petit Tourette,” so for OCD completists, that does make this collection a requirement. For people looking for more Cartman, it’s an easy rental. Pop the discs in, scan through, and return them to Netflix for your next item in queue.
