Russell Crowe
Whew. The crash of the DOW must have the studios tightening their belts. How else can you explain the reasoning behind Ridley Scott's decision to have Russell Crowe play both the title characters in Nottingham. Okay, okay, that's probably not it, but it's still the most interesting casting decision we've heard in some time; and this comes immediately after the big Depp/Disney partnership.
Russell Crowe to Play Both Sheriff and Robin Hood
MTV Movies Blog caught up with director Ridley Scott and learned that Russell Crowe will be playing both the Sheriff of Nottingham as well as Robin Hood in Nottingham. How can this work? A revisionist take indeed...
The news comes straight from the helmer himself, with Scott revealing “He’s playing both!” exclusively to MTV News during an interview for his new film “Body of Lies,” which co-stars Crowe. While Scott held additional details close to his chest — saying they would take too long to describe — he did exclaim that Crowe’s dual roles would be “a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes.”
The only plausible explanation for this is that the Sheriff we have all learned to hate over the years isn't such a bad guy. Maybe he moonlights as Robin?
