One of the catches of working out of Newport Beach is that it is sometimes hard to make it out to LA to catch some badass footage. The same holds true for Watchmen, as I was too wary of LA traffic to make it out to a special screening on the Warner Bros lot. Fortunately for me er, us, Alex Billington from FirstShowing has already posted him impressions and some new details from the footage.
Watchmen Footage Impressions and Details
Here are the quick impressions sent over:
- Running time is currently 2 hours, 43 minutes. It will probably stay around that length.
- There will not be a sequel nor a prequel (at least not with Zack Snyder).
- They shot intro and outro scenes to make the transition into the "Tales of the Black Freighter" story work smoothly in a full version of the film that would be much like the graphic novel.
- The next trailer will most likely be attached to Quantum of Solace.
What did Alex think of the actual footage shown?
I've been very excited for this, but this surpassed even my expectations. We were shown the opening scene and opening credits, a montage sequence of Dr. Manhattan's origin, and a fight scene in jail. I got constant chills watching every last scene and sat in awe throughout the entire presentation. Watchmen looks like it's going to be The Matrix all over again. This movie is going to take us on one hell of an incredible ride next March.
