Matthew Broderick is making a return to Broadway. He will join Christopher Hampton the revival of The Philanthropist.
Matthew Broderick Returns to Broadway with The Philanthropist
Broadway has been a goldmine for Matthew Broderick. After turning heads in The Producers back in 2001 and 2004, he toplined a 2005 revival of The Odd Couple. Though the latter had poor reviews, it still scored with the audiences.
In Philanthropist, the thesp will star as a university professor who lives his life entirely removed from real-world political upheavals, including the assassination of the prime minister and his cabinet.
David Grindley will helm the revival. The Philanthropist will have a soft opening on April 10th with doors ready to swing on April 26th at the American Airlines Theater.
I guess we'll be waiting on that Deck the Halls sequel. (sigh)
