X-Men Origins: Wolverine
If you were fortunate enough to attend Comic Con this year -- or catch the X-Men Origins: Wolverine panel's bootleg footage online -- you already have some sort of an idea on the boosted action to be seen in the film. I mean, there is a crapload of action. Since we're looking at Wolverine's, excuse me, origins, it would seem that we will be encountering an all new er, old Wolverine.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
ComingSoon recently caught up with big-budget producer Lauren Shuler Donner to discuss X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One of the biggest topics on the table is the differences to be seen.
CS/SHH!: What's the latest you can tell us about "Wolverine"?
Lauren Schuler Donner: May 1st, 2009! I guess it's closer to the first "X-Men" in tone because it's a little darker, but there's a lot of action. It's his origin story. It's really good. I've been in the editing room the last couple of weeks and I think that it's good and that audiences are going to like it. But it's a little darker.
CS/SHH!: How is Hugh Jackman's interpretation of the character different or new, compared to what we've seen in the "X-Men" films?
Schuler Donner: Well, you haven't seen this side of him. It's darker and sadder and it's kick-ass. There's a ton of action. It's really kick-ass.
If you saw the footage shown at Comic Con, then you also caught that quick shot of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Touching upon his character, Donner admits that Reynolds plays his part so well that he might have earned his very own spin-off.
CS/SHH!: Is that in hopes of a "Deadpool" spin-off film?
Schuler Donner: I hope so. I really hope so. He's so good at it.
Since I thought Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel's ass were the only two redeeming qualities in Blade: Trinity, I have been anxious to see that actor back in the genre. Maybe this is his calling. Being absolutely jacked helps too.
