I don't know what it is about Australia, but everything about the film so far has been captivating. While the first international posters for the film had that whole, I don't know, Atonement feel, which was fine, the trailers and featurettes show the impressive amount of work/care going into the film; especially from director Baz Luhrmann. With a positive screening report showing up last week, 20th Century Fox -- who has been due a strong showing, mind you -- has begun to take advantage of the momentum forming around this film with a new international poster.

A romantic action-adventure set in northern Australia prior to World War II, Australia centers on an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a rough-hewn cattle driver (Hugh Jackman) to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land, only to still face the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.
While it couldn't be more obvious that these two characters fall in love, don't be surprised if Baz finds a way to break our hearts. "Come what may... Cooooome what mayyyy..."
