Call me a sucker for films off the beaten path, especially if there is a dash of sci-fi or the fantastical. 'Christopher M' writes in with the first photos from Franklyn, a film he describes as a mix between Dark City, V for Vendetta and Brazil. If that's the case, already sounds awesome.

While you likely haven't heard of Franklyn, the film will be premiering at the London Film Festival and stars Ryan Phillippe, Eva Green, Sam Riley and the dude who played King Theoden in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Bernard Hill.
(Updated! 'Star Joe' sent over a more accurate synopsis) While we know little on the film's story save for the comparison above, we know that Phillippe will play the title character of one of four intertwining stories. He stars as an atheist vigilante who runs around a contemporary London, where the rest of our characters also are. As for the fantastical, this London lies next to a parallel universe.
Franklyn follows four intertwining stories, three of which are based in contemporary London and one of which is based in a kind of parallel fantasy environment called Meanwhile City. One of the title characters, Preest, is a sort-of masked vigilante detective who's the only atheist in Meanwhile City, played by Ryan Phillippe, who works to extract people from cults, has a big cynicism about the whole thing and hates The Ministry with a vengeance.
