Star Trek
Seems like the Star Trek updates come in packs. After weeks of silence, the JJ Abrams project has the uncanny ability to re-surface with a plethora of updates. In the past few days we have learned that we can expect a new trailer in November, Edgar Wright liked the film, and now we have a more accurate idea of running time.
New Star Trek Details
The good people at MTV Movie Blog have caught up with JJ Abrams and have uncovered quite a few updates from the director. First up, don't expect Star Trek to follow the recent trend of long films.
“It will be a two-hour movie,” Abrams said of the film’s running time. “I’m sick of these two hours and forty-five minute movies. Seriously, it’s like I don’t have enough time to stay two hours and forty-five minutes. I’m exhausted just saying that twice. I can’t stand it.”
Abrams does confirm that a new trailer is arriving November, and that it will show some actual footage from the film. But here's the catch - footage has existed since San Diego Comic Con. Don't believe? Well, Simon Pegg has seen it and he er, well, listen to this.
“I showed Simon Pegg [footage] when we were at Comic-Con. I showed him this little trailer thing and it was my favorite thing ever,” Abrams said of a meeting with the man who would be Scotty. “He literally started weeping. It was ridiculous. He was sitting there, I mean he must have been plastered. Because he was looking at my iPhone [crying].”
