They can make a comedy out of anything nowadays. While Tropic Thunder already had some fun with the Vietnam War, The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard will be taking us all the way back to the Napoleonic Wars. To ensure ample funniness, Media Rights Capital has picked up funnyman Steve Carell to star.
Steve Carell Joins Napoleonic Wars as Brigadier Gerard
Steve Carell will be taking advantage of his hiatus from The Office after shooting the fifth season to squeeze in one or two other projects. The Adventures of Brigadier Gerard will be one of them.
Written by John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, the comedy will have Carell play the title character, the bravest soldier in Napoleon’s army and also the dumbest. Gerard follows Napoleon from his rise to power to his permanent exile. Brigadier Gerard is based on stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
If the film doesn't take up too much time, Carell is hoping to possibly squeeze in a Get Smart sequel -- currently scripting -- and Date Night, where he'll team with Tina Fey.
