Wait a sec, wasn't it Sean Bean who played Odysseus in Troy and Brad Pitt Achilles? Since one of the two didn't survive, it looks like Sean Bean is out and Brad Pitt is back in.
Brad Pitt for The Odyssey
First off, I would love to see somebody re-adapt The Illiad into a more faithful film than Troy was. Sure, throw some of those chapters out that don't drive the plot, but somebody has to come along who can make something better than that.
Moving forward, Brad Pitt has been picked up by Warner Bros. to help bring The Odyssey to the bigscreen. Here's the catch, it's not exactly faithful.
A reimagining you ask? Uh - Only if you call a futuristic setting in outer space a 'reimagining'. I kid you not!
George Miller has been given the task of adapting the source material and Warner Bros. has it in mind for him to direct. While Brad Pitt's banner Plan B has commited to produce, the film should quickly become a starring vehicle for him.
If you remember the original tale of Odysseus, the story focuses on the character's journey home while battling enemies and, harder yet, temptation.
Brad Pitt can next be seen in David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and then the Terrence Malick-directed Tree of Life. If you know Terrence Malick, expect tons of extended shots of er, shrubbery in Tree of Life. Just a guess, but the director loves shrubbery.
