The Bourne Ultimatum
The Bourne Ultimatum did so well with audiences that it was a no-brainer for Universal Pictures to move forward with another sequel. The studio was even sure to have the third film end on an open note.
Though it took a touch longer than expected, Universal has picked up scribe George Nolfi to get writing a fourth Bourne installment.
Fourth Jason Bourne Coming
Since Nolfi was partially responsible for the third film, Universal is showing that they aren't trying to modify what's been working. This new installment will be tricky, however, as there are no more Robert Ludlum novels left to adapt. That's right, the fourth installment will be a completely original story.
While Universal will have to whip up a new story, at least they already have both director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon already signed on and ready to go.
While Universal Pictures originally planned at stopping at the third Bourne installment, The Bourne Ultimatum, the studio had two reasons to keep going. Like every other studio, Universal is anxious to keep tentpoles and they couldn't deny the fact that Ultimatum made close to half a billion worldwide.
