Javier Bardem
Though he's killed ruthlessly and made sweet, sweet love to women like Scarlett Johansson in English, Javier Bardem is returning to Spanish for Biutiful.
Javier Bardem Joins Biutiful
To be directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu off a script he wrote, Biutiful is about a man embroiled in shady dealings who is confronted by a childhood friend, now a policeman.
The film is Alejandro's first since his publicized break-up with former screenwriting partner Guillermo Arriaga. The two were once Mexico's number one filmmaking duo, starting with their breakout hit Amores perros back in 2000. The pair went on to make 21 Grams and Babel.
Gonzalez Inarritu and Arriaga's arguments over writing credits came to a head at Cannes in 2006, when Arriaga was supposedly shut out from attending the debut of Babel.
Biutiful is set to enter production in Barcelona next week.
